The term &#8220;transforming,&#8221; as a verb, emphasizes the role of HCI researchers and practitioners in shaping individual, social, and collective interactions, while as an adjective, it prompts us to critically examine the transformational power of digital technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We particularly invite contributions that explore how digital technologies influence individual, social, and societal changes, provide examples of interactive technologies that facilitate transformations, and critically reflect on the futures of interactions within HCI. If a paper is less than 4,000 words, we strongly recommend submitting to the <a href=\"https:\/\/muc2026.mensch-und-computer.de\/en\/call-for-papers\/hci\/short-paper\/\">Short Papers Track<\/a>. Papers in German require an English translation of the title and abstract to be added to the submission (as a subtitle and second abstract; this does not count towards the word count).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Formatting\"><\/span><strong>Formatting<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions must be prepared using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/authors\/submissions\">LaTeX or Word templates from ACM<\/a>. The correct template for submission is the <strong>single-column Word Submission Template or single-column LaTeX using \\documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart}. <\/strong>We strongly encourage authors to familiarize themselves with the template early on. We recommend using the LaTeX template as it yields far fewer issues, which then require time-consuming debugging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Submission\"><\/span><strong>Submission<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Full and short papers must be submitted via the <a href=\"https:\/\/new.precisionconference.com\/\">Precision Conference system<\/a>. Authors may submit and edit their materials until the submission deadline. This information is crucial to the integrity of the review process and author representation. No changes to metadata after this deadline will be allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Accessibility\"><\/span><strong>Accessibility&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors are expected to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/sigchi.org\/conferences\/author-resources\/accessibility-guide\/\">SIGCHI\u2019s Guide to an Accessible Submission<\/a>. If you have questions or concerns about creating accessible submissions, please contact the DEI &amp; Accessibility Chairs via a&#99;&#99;&#101;&#x73;&#x73;&#x69;bi&#108;&#105;&#x74;&#x79;&#x40;&#x6d;en&#115;&#99;&#x68;&#x2d;&#x75;&#x6e;d&#45;&#99;&#111;&#x6d;&#x70;&#x75;te&#114;&#46;&#100;&#x65; early in the writing process (the closer to the deadline, the less time the team will have to respond to individual requests). Papers flagged as inaccessible by a reviewer will have to be reassigned. Note that while we strive to match the best reviewer to each paper \u2013 the best reviewers for the work may not be able to review an inaccessible submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Inclusivity\"><\/span><strong>Inclusivity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions should be prepared with active consideration of the respectful use of language, particularly towards marginalized groups, particularly around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morgan-klaus.com\/gender-guidelines.html\">gender<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sigaccess.org\/welcome-to-sigaccess\/resources\/accessible-writing-guide\/\">disability<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Anonymity\"><\/span><strong>Anonymity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All submissions need to be fully anonymized. This includes any appendices, supplemental material, external links to datasets and code repositories, as well as a potential acknowledgments section. Relevant prior works of the authors must be cited explicitly, but we recommend using neutral phrasings (e.g., \u2018As previously shown by\u2026\u2019 as opposed to \u2018As we have shown previously\u2026\u2019). Reviewing will be conducted in a double-anonymous fashion, i.e., reviewers and authors are anonymous to each other. Papers that violate the anonymization policy will be desk rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supplementary_Materials\"><\/span><strong>Supplementary Materials<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Supplementary material may include, for example, videos, survey text, experimental protocols, source code, and data, all of which can help others replicate your work. Videos should include closed captions as well as audio descriptions; see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sigaccess.org\/welcome-to-sigaccess\/resources\/accessible-presentation-guide\/\">Accessible Presentation Guide<\/a>. Any non-video supplementary material should be submitted as a single .zip file, including a README file with a description of the materials. Reviewers should be able to assess the contribution of the paper solely based on the main PDF submission. That is, the paper submission must stand independently without the supplementary material. All supplementary material must be anonymized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Research_Involving_Human_Participants\"><\/span><strong>Research Involving Human Participants<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As a researcher, you have an overriding obligation to protect participants\u2019 welfare and safety and to ensure they are treated fairly and with respect. We recommended the following document by the European Commission on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/docs\/2021-2027\/horizon\/guidance\/ethics-in-social-science-and-humanities_he_en.pdf\">Ethics in Social Science and Humanities<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/docs\/2021-2027\/horizon\/guidance\/research-ethics-in-ethnography-anthropology_he_en.pdf\">Research Ethics in Ethnography\/Anthropology<\/a>.\u201d for a wider and deeper understanding of the underlying basic ethical principles. These include doing good (beneficence), avoiding doing harm (non-maleficence), and protecting the autonomy, well-being, safety, and dignity of all research participants. Moreover, all researchers involving participants must meet appropriate ethical and legal standards as outlined in the following document: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/research-involving-human-participants-and-subjects\">ACM Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Use_of_Generative_Tools\"><\/span><strong>Use of Generative Tools<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All authors should be aware of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/new-acm-policy-on-authorship\">ACM Policy on Authorship<\/a>, which articulates the authorized use of generative AI in submitted works. All authors are responsible for the content created by these tools, the use of the tools must be disclosed (e.g., in the acknowledgements), and the tool cannot be listed as an author. As such, authors are responsible for plagiarism, misrepresentation, fabrication, or falsification of content and\/or references generated through the use of generative AI tools and could be sanctioned with penalties, such as a publication ban. We will investigate submissions brought to our attention and will reject papers where LLM use is not clearly marked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Selection_Process\"><\/span><strong>Selection Process<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Full Paper submissions are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/pre-publication-evaluation\">formally reviewed<\/a> by international peer HCI researchers and practitioners. Papers can be either Accepted with minor revisions or Rejected; there will be no rebuttal or revision phase. The criteria for evaluation are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contribution\/Importance of the paper to Mensch und Computer: Does this work present research contributions or ideas that will stimulate interesting conversations among conference attendees?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significance: How important is the problem or question that this submission addresses? Is there an audience at the conference that would find this work influential and\/or compelling?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Originality\/Novelty: How does the work build on or speak to existing work in the area? Does it make a novel contribution?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Correctness\/Validity: How well are the chosen methods described and justified within the submission?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clarity: How clear, understandable, and targeted is the writing? To what extent does the submission conform to all requirements?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The submission should contain no sensitive, private, or proprietary information that cannot be disclosed at the time of publication. All submissions are considered confidential during the review. All rejected submissions will be kept confidential in perpetuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a sustainable reviewing process, all authors are required to volunteer as reviewers for at least two papers via <a href=\"https:\/\/new.precisionconference.com\/\">Precision Conference<\/a> (Review &gt; Volunteer to Review &gt; Mensch und Computer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Desk_Rejection_Policy\"><\/span><strong>Desk Rejection Policy<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Paper chairs may desk-reject submissions that have very little chance of acceptance. These are rare cases, typically when a submission clearly violates one of the points below. Desk rejects are considerate of reviewers&#8217; time and effort while maintaining a fair review process.The Paper Chairs may desk-reject any submission for the following reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The submission fails to meet the requirements outlined in the call (e.g., lack of anonymization, incorrect template, excessive length);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The submission is incomplete, a working draft, or shows poor scholarly standards, such as extensive typographical errors or incomplete references;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The submission violates the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/new-acm-policy-on-authorship\">ACM policy on LLM usage<\/a> or is flagged for plagiarism according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/plagiarism-overview\">ACM policy<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The submission fails to declare closely related concurrent submissions. Any concurrent submission under review elsewhere must be disclosed on PCS with sufficient details to clarify how the MuC 2026 submission differs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The submission is clearly out of scope for MuC 2026 (see the Contribution Types)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Upon_Acceptance_of_your_Full_Paper\"><\/span><strong>Upon Acceptance of your Full Paper<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Camera_Ready_Process\"><\/span><strong>Camera Ready Process<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The publication-ready version has to follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/proceedings-template\">new LaTeX and Word templates from ACM<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/authors.acm.org\/proceedings\/production-information\/taps-production-workflow\">TAPS workflow<\/a>. Authors must add accessibility metadata to their PDF (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/sigchi.org\/resources\/guides-for-authors\/accessibility\/\">SIGCHI Accessibility Guide for Authors<\/a>). Authors whose paper is written in German are required to provide an English abstract and title that accompany the German version. Papers will be published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/\">ACM Digital Library<\/a> as open-access publications; MuC \u201826 will cover publication fees for institutions that do not have an open-access agreement with ACM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-sydney-no-margin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"At_the_Conference\"><\/span><strong>At the Conference<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For each accepted submission, at least one author must register for the full conference and present their work in person or through a pre-recorded video. Presentations should follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sigaccess.org\/welcome-to-sigaccess\/resources\/accessible-presentation-guide\/\">ACM SIGACCESS recommendations for accessible presentations<\/a>.
