Welcome to Mensch und Computer 2026!
30. Aug – 02. Sep 2026, at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg, Germany
The Mensch und Computer (MuC) conference is the largest conference on human-computer interaction in Europe [1]. Since 2001, it has brought together researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to discuss human-centered design, interactive systems, and digital innovation.
This year’s edition will be hosted in Duisburg at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
MuC serves as a platform for presenting research in human-computer interaction, fostering collaboration between academia and industry, and advancing knowledge on how people interact with information and communication technologies. The conference highlights current developments in user-centered design, interactive applications, and the role of digital technologies in shaping work, collaboration, and society.
This year’s theme, “Transforming Interactions“, highlights the relationships between societies and interactive technologies, along with their potential for transformations. The term “transforming,” as a verb, emphasizes the role of HCI researchers and practitioners in shaping individual, social, and collective interactions, while as an adjective, it prompts us to critically examine the transformational power of digital technologies.
