MuC 2026 aims to create an inclusive and respectful environment reflecting the diversity of our community. We will not tolerate discrimination and harassment in any form, and encourage our participants to join our efforts to keep MuC a safer place for marginalised participants.
We are doing our best to accommodate a diverse range of access requirements. To help your individual decision-making, below, we have put together information on the inclusion and access support we can offer. In an effort to provide information as soon as possible, we are also trying to be transparent about variables that we don’t know about yet, so if something is still a work in progress, come back to check for updates or simply send us an e-mail and we will get back to you once we know more!
We’ve created an Accessibility Requests Checklist covering mobility, vision, hearing, neurodiversity, communication needs, and more. If you’re planning to attend MuC 2026 we’d love to hear from you so we can arrange the right support in advance.
Accessibility Requests Checklist
All responses are confidential and used solely to support your participation. If you enter your contact details, we’ll follow up to confirm what can be provided, when, and how, so you can make an informed decision about attending. Remember, the earlier we receive the requests the more we can do to ensure everyone can participate in the conference!
Mobility Access
You can access a map of the conference zone (map of the area) and a floorplan of the individual buildings (Building LX, Building LK, Building LA, Building LB, Building LC) on the Venue page
Some more detailed accessibility information about spaces and buildings are listed below and accessible toilets and elevators are indicated on the maps.
Parking
A reserved accessible parking space is available behind building LA, which is also close to LB and LC. Please reach out to us in advance to reserve one if possible as the capacity is limited.
Building LK
- There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor (just behind the entrance of the library)
Building LX
- Two accessible toilets are available on the ground floor
- Automatic door sensors at the main door
Building LA
- Accessible toilet on the ground floor
- Accessible entrance with elevators is at the side (near the LB/LC buildings)
Building LB
- Accessible entrance with automatic door switches
- Please note that currently a smaller lift (75 cm door) is operational
- Accessible toilets on the ground and first floor
Building LC
- Accessible entrance with automatic door switches
- Operational elevator with a 90 cm door
- Note that there is no accessible toilet in this building unfortunately, the closest is on the ground floor of the LA or LB building
Wheelchair spaces, seating with additional space for mobility support devices, and seating for fat bodies will be available in easy-to-access front, side or aisle rows at each session across all buildings.
For all other events and times, seating opportunities throughout the venue will be arranged.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Access
The rooms where the Keynotes and main HCI programme will take place (rooms LX1203 and LX1205) will have induction loops. For the practitioners track and workshops we are seeking to get portable FM loops to support those who might need them. Please get in touch with us directly if you would require one and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please note that we are currently unable to provide sign languages interpretation services, but we will take steps to ensure that all presenters for scientific and practitioner sessions will be using Zoom for close captioning. We know this is only a limited solutions and we are trying to find ways to offer better support.
We are happy to accommodate hearing dogs.
Blind and Low-Vision Access
Building LX has a tactile map and Braille signage throughout. Unfortunately no other building has Braille or tactile floor signage.
We will do our best to make signage accessible to those with low vision. Stairs will be marked with high-vision strips.
We are happy to accommodate guide dogs.
We can arrange sighted guidance for you thanks to our Student Volunteers, please get in touch if you require a sighted guide.
Quiet Room
There is a signposted quiet room in on the ground floor of building LC (room 0026). The room is intended as a retreat for people who are experiencing sensory overwhelm or other distress, or simply need a place to withdraw. Multiple people may use the room at the same time.
When you use the room, please keep your distance from other people who may be in the room. Be as quiet as you can, keep any lights low, and avoid strong smells. Quiet prayer is welcome.
Family Support
For those who bring children and babies, there is a nursing room in building LX.
We are delighted to be able to offer a limited number of child care spots for MuC’26!
If your require childcare support let us know by checking the child care box when you register. For organisational reasons, the application deadline matches the Early Bird registration deadline (July 29th). Pronouns on Event Badges
In addition to choosing pronouns in the registration system, we will offer on-site pronoun stickers, including empty ones to fill out as wished. If you do not wish to provide pronouns, that is fine as well.
