UP – Practitioner Track

The Practitioner Track is open to anyone who designs, applies, reflects on, or develops UX in human-machine interaction. This year’s conference motto is “Transforming Interactions” so we are particularly interested in submissions that show how interactions between humans and machines can be designed, changed, or rethinked.

The focus is on practical contributions, open exchange, and collaborative learning.

We welcome submissions from everyone, regardless of role, experience, or professional background: UX professionals (junior and senior), young professionals, career changers, researchers with practical experience, and anyone interested in UX.

We are not looking for formal perfection, but rather relevant content, real experiences, and a desire to exchange ideas.

Submission formats

  • Selectable format:
    • Short format (90 minutes)
    • Half-day format (180 minutes including break)
  • The two formats are submitted separately

Arbeitskreis-Session

Open, moderated format for joint thinking, discussion, and further development of ideas.

The working groups of German UPA (https://germanupa.de/arbeitskreise) have the opportunity to work on and present topics together in workshops.

All conference participants are invited to discuss and jointly develop new insights.

Information for Arbeitskreise:

  • A time slot of 90 minutes is allocated for each working group in the program.
  • One session can be registered per Arbeitskreis.
  • There is no review process for the sessions.
  • Only public sessions are possible.
  • Internal sessions can be requested separately and will be marked accordingly in the program if necessary.

Poster

This year, we would like to give you the opportunity to share your content as posters at the conference. We look forward to seeing practical projects, methods, processes, or research with practical applications presented in a visual and compact format, allowing you to engage directly with conference participants in an uncomplicated way.

  • Submission: We do not need the poster in advance. Simply submit a description of the potential poster, explaining what you would like to share with the community.
  • Publication: Optionally, a publication (maximum 6 pages) is possible in the GI Digital Library.
  • If accepted, you must bring the poster to the conference and can hang it up there.

Others – your own format

Do you have a different format in mind?

We welcome new ideas, experimental approaches, and creative formats. Just send us your ideas by email (team-muc@germanupa.de).

Submission process

Submission is done in several steps:

  1. Submissions are to be made in the respective category and will then be reviewed. Instead of a form, we require a document with a maximum of two pages containing information on the respective format. This will assist us in judging how well your topic fits into the program. Therefore, please include all information that will help us as the program committee to evaluate this. Please ensure that the document does not contain any information that could identify the contributors, as we want to evaluate anonymously.
Please highlight in the abstract (in Conftool) for whom the session could be relevant and only briefly mention the highlights; please provide a detailed description of the content in the separate document.
  2. Notification of the review result
After the review is complete, the authors will receive feedback on the results.
  3. Optional publication
After acceptance, you may optionally submit an article in the specified format for publication.
